Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, Modi Government has announced to reduce the rates of goods and service tax (GST) on 23 items, taking a new decision.
After 31st meeting of the GST Council on Saturday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that reducing GST tax on various types of items will have an impact of Rs.5500 crore in annual revenue. This decision of research in tax rates will affect the new year's day.

GST Council has put 7 of the highest taxes of GST in the highest tax slab of 7% in a low-rated slab. Along with that, only 28 items have survived in the 28% slab.
The minister said that in the movie theater tickets upto 100 rupees, instead of 18%, 12% tax and tickets above Rs 100 would be 18% instead of 28% instead of 18% GST. Thus, the monitor and TV screens up to 32 inches will now be 18 percent GST instead of 28 percent. The revised tax on GST will be applicable from January 1, 2019 on items.
